Inside Norwood
Tom Cummings grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Missouri BB63 from 1952 to 1954. He is a Korean War Veteran. Nina, Katie and Tommy Norwood Little League Tom was heavily involved in Norwood Little League (NLL) as a head coach, an umpire, a commentator for games aired on cable television and as the Vice President of the Board of Directors of NLL. He coached Seattle in the minor league for 2 years, and then the major league Giants for 25 years. In 1983, Tom took over the 10 year old All-Star team, which he then coached for 18 years. The 1983 All-Star team went 26- 4 and won the Norwood and Stoughton Tournaments. Tom's Giants also won the Town Championship in 1983. Tom coaches the All Star team in 1983, the same year his team won the Town Championship. Tom was a coach in the Norwood Basketball Association for 3 years and also was a referee. Town Moderator to serve on the Legal Based Study Committee which reviewed the Norwood Town By-laws. He founded the Inside Norwood TV show in 1998 and created the Table Talk Panel Show in 2001.

Tom was married in 1959 to Angelina (Parise). Tom and Angie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 24, 2009.

Tom has a degree in Management from Boston State. He moved to Norwood in 1962. Tom and Angie have two children, Tom Jr. and Doreen. They have three grandchildren, Angelina (Nina), Katie, and Thomas III (Tommy).


Tom was a Library Trustee for 25 years. This is an elected position. He currently serves as a Norwood Town Meeting Member and has been for 35 yrs.
One of Tom's most impressive acomplishments is starting the CPR program in the 1970's. Tom singlehandedly coordinated this program at the Ellis Nursing Home and by the end of his tenure, 1300 people were certified. Instructors included fireman and nurses who taught lifeguards and many others who had to be certified for their jobs. The largest group of people certified were general community members who wanted to be ready to help those in need. There was one known life saved by someone trained in Tom's program. Tom was given an award from both Governor Dukakis and Governor Weld for his efforts.
Tom was appointed to the Norwood Cable Commission, by the Board of Selectman, and served for 15 years. Tom was then appointed by the
