Norwood – The road connecting the FM Global campus with Pleasant St and Providence Hwy is about to get a new name. During the October 6th planning board meeting, a request to change FM Global Way to the simpler FM Way was unanimously approved.
The request, presented by Greg Larusso of Hobbs Brook Real Estate LLC, on behalf of FM (formerly FM Global), was due to the rebranding at the company.
“The rear road to our Norwood campus is presently FM Global Way,” Mr. Larusso explained. “We have gone through a rebranding; we’ve dropped the ‘global’ in our name. So, it’s now FM. We’d like to see if we could get that name changed to FM Way.”
The road in question connects the rear entrance on Pleasant St, through the campus, and to Providence Highway according to Google Maps. Mr. Laruso confirmed that the change would be purely administrative, with the gate and all other property features remaining exactly as they are.
“Our new brand positions us collectively for our next wave of success by clarifying who we are and what we stand for: protection, partnership and progress,” FM’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Roberts said in a statement. “We believe that by uniting our businesses under the FM brand, we will streamline and strengthen our market position, which will allow us to provide an even better experience for our current clients and reach more organizations that share our belief that the majority of property loss is preventable.”
According to their website, “FM is a mutual insurance company whose capital, scientific research capability and engineering expertise are solely dedicated to property risk management and the resilience of its policyholder-owners.” Their new building has been a multi-year project at 1175 Providence Highway nearing completion. Mr. Laruso confirmed that more landscaping will be completed in the coming year.
The planning board voted unanimously to approve FM Way name change. The new signage is expected to be installed soon, marking the final stage of the road name update. -RD
