WALPOLE – Winter evenings in Walpole are about to get a little brighter this year. Norfolk Agricultural High School has announced the launch of a brand-new festive tradition: the school’s first-ever Holiday Drive-Through.

For two weekends in December, the sprawling campus at 400 Main Street will transform into a winter wonderland, inviting the local community to enjoy a dazzling display of lights and holiday scenes from the warmth and comfort of their own vehicles.

While the “Aggie” is well known for its community involvement, this event marks a fresh way for residents to experience the grounds. Organizers have curated a specific “holiday lane” that weaves through the upper part of the campus.

School officials noted a key distinction regarding the route: unlike some of the school’s autumn events that utilize the forestry areas, this light display will remain strictly on the paved areas of the upper campus, ensuring a smooth ride for all visitors.

“Stay cozy in your car as you journey along our holiday lane,” the event announcement reads. “Don’t miss out on this brand new community event!”

The event is scheduled for two consecutive weekends:

  • Friday & Saturday, Dec. 12–13
  • Friday & Saturday, Dec. 19–20

The route will be open from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM each night.

To manage traffic flow effectively, the entry point for the light show will be the Route 1A entrance situated by the pond. Attendees are asked to adhere to a restriction of passenger vehicles only to ensure safety and proper spacing within the display route.

Tickets are priced at $20 per vehicle rather than per person, making this an affordable option for families looking to load up the car for an evening out. Tickets must be purchased online at www.norfolkaggie.org.

Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets early, as this is the inaugural year for the event and community interest is expected to be high. -RD
