NORWOOD – As the race for a seat on the Board of Selectmen takes shape, candidate David Bliss is stepping into the local political arena for the first time, emphasizing collaboration, practical thinking, and community-focused priorities.

Bliss, who has called Norwood home for the past 11 years, says his decision to run is rooted in a desire to give back to the town he now considers his own. While new to elected office, he believes his approach—centered on “fresh ideas” and what he describes as “common sense”—can help address the town’s most pressing challenges.

A key pillar of Bliss’s campaign is strengthening public safety. He has voiced strong support for ensuring that police officers and firefighters have the tools, resources, and support necessary to protect the community effectively. Bliss says as Selectman, he’ll work to “provide the tools and resources needed for the health and safety of our Firefighters and Police Officers.”

Bliss is also prioritizing collaboration on budget policy, signaling a willingness to work with fellow officials and stakeholders to make fiscally responsible decisions. In addition, he is focusing on economic development, particularly efforts to grow Norwood’s commercial tax base as a way to strengthen the town’s financial stability.

Support for senior citizens is another cornerstone of his platform, with Bliss highlighting the importance of maintaining and enhancing services for Norwood’s aging population.

If elected, Bliss says he is committed to working every day on behalf of all residents, with the goal of making Norwood “an even better place to live.” -RD
