NORWOOD – A 45-year-old local man is in custody following an intensive investigation into the possession and distribution of illegal materials involving minors.
The Norwood Police Department arrested Kevin Cobb, a resident of 585 Nichols Street, allegedly related to the possession of child pornography and the distribution of obscene material.
Norwood Police Detective Jennifer Hoyle, who serves as a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, received a “cyber tip” from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and led local efforts to track the digital activity.
Working in tandem with regional and national law enforcement partners, investigators were able to secure both an arrest warrant for Cobb and a search warrant for his Nichols Street residence.
In a statement released following the arrest, Norwood Police Chief Christopher Padden reaffirmed his stance on crimes involving the exploitation of minors, noting that such cases are “pursued vigorously” through multi-agency cooperation.
“The Norwood Police Department remains firmly committed to protecting children and aggressively investigating crimes involving the exploitation of minors,” Padden said.
While an arrest has been made, authorities emphasized that the matter remains under active investigation. Residents with any information regarding sexual exploitation are encouraged to contact the Norwood Police Department by either phone (781-440-5181) or email (reportatip@norwoodma.gov). All tips are kept strictly confidential.
Kevin Cobb is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. -RD
