NORWOOD – A developing police investigation is currently underway following a report of gunfire tonight that has left one person hospitalized.
On Wednesday, September 24 at approximately 5:01 PM, Norwood Police received multiple 911 calls reporting possible gunshots in the area of Columbine Road. According to a Facebook post, responding officers quickly located evidence of a shooting at the scene.
According to witness reports, a vehicle was seen speeding away from the area, and three individuals were observed fleeing on foot.
Shortly after the initial reports, a 911 call was received from a victim of a gunshot wound near Route 1 and Dean Street. Norwood Police and Fire personnel responded and transported an individual to a Boston trauma center for treatment. The victim’s condition is not known at this time.
Norwood Police report, they’ll maintain a heavy police presence on Columbine Road area as the investigation continues. Norwood Police say they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public at this time.
Just before 2pm September 25, 2025, Norwood Police released an update reporting their investigation remains active and ongoing. They believe this shooting was not a random incident. Police say the victim appears to have been the target of the attack.
Because witnesses reported seeing three teenagers run from the scene, they’re asking anyone who resides in that area to review their surveillance camera’s between the hours of 4:30pm and 5:30pm on September 24 and provide footage that they may have captured. Police are looking for anything suspicious: persons, vehicles, or activity that could assist in identifying those involved.
