NORWOOD — A UPS employee was struck by a vehicle on the evening of December 23, 2025, at the intersection of University Avenue and Providence Highway.
According to a Norwood Police report, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday and located the victim standing on the sidewalk. A good samaritan who had stopped to assist, was also on the scene.
The victim, a male employee at the nearby UPS facility, told police he was crossing the street toward his workplace when he was struck by a white sedan. The impact of the collision knocked him to the ground.
The police report noted that the area is “normally dark at night,” a situation compounded that evening by rain.
While the bystander did not witness the moment of impact, she told officers she arrived to find the driver, described as a Hispanic male, speaking with the victim. She noted that the driver appeared to speak little to no English and quickly left the scene before police arrived. The samaritan told police she believed the driver might be an employee at the Amazon facility located on Everett Street.
The victim was evaluated by the Norwood Fire Department for a sore right shoulder but refused transport to the hospital.
Despite the hit-and-run nature of the incident, the victim’s reaction was in-line with the holiday spirit. The officer asked the victim if he was interested in pressing charges if the driver were found, the victim declined. “No, it’s the holidays,” he told the officer.
Officers conducted a sweep of several of the industrial lots, including the Amazon parking lot on Everett Street in an attempt to locate the vehicle. While numerous white sedans were present, officers could not identify which may have been involved with the crash, especially since it was unclear if the low-speed impact would have caused visible damage to the car.
If you were in the area on the 23rd, or recognize the description of the car or driver, police are asking you to contact them at 781-762-1212 and refer to report 25NWD-1346-OF. -RD
