Paul DiModica and Dennis Cawley published the first edition of The Norwood Record on December 2, 1992. Since then, they’ve been a staple of local Norwood News.
This week, they announced in an article they are leaving the publishing business after three decades of local Norwood headlines. Inside Norwood wants to wish Paul and Dennis a heartfelt congratulations on a well-earned retirement.
Since their first issue was printed DiModica and Cawley have operated with the philosophy that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. However, anyone in this industry knows that “working” in this business is a 24 hour schedule. It involves late nights, impossible deadlines, and the heavy responsibility of being the town’s memory. Paul and Dennis have carried that weight for Norwood for over a generation.
The Norwood Record is one of four publications by The Bulletin Newspapers, Inc., a Domestic Profit Corporation in Massachusetts. Their counterparts include The Boston Bulletin, The Hyde Park Bulletin, and West Roxbury /Roslindale Bulletin.
DiModica and Cawley describe themselves as just “a couple of neighborhood kids,” but they leave behind an unmatched legacy of endurance in local news. They are handing the keys to the Bulletin kingdom to Jeff Sullivan, a ten-year veteran reporter of their operation, who will no doubt continue their impeccable tradition.
Paul and Dennis stated that accurate, honest, and ethical news generation are the cornerstones of success, and we couldn’t agree more. It is a testament to their integrity that they have maintained that standard for 33 years.
So, to Paul and Dennis: enjoy the break. You’ve earned it. The deadlines are someone else’s problem now.
Good luck, gentlemen. -RD
