NORWOOD – In an era where digital scams get all the headlines, financial experts are reminding residents that old-fashioned, physical paperwork remains a goldmine for identity thieves.

To help neighbors protect their personal information, One Local Bank is hosting a Free Community Paper Shred Day on Saturday June 13th, 2026 at the Norwood Senior Center, 275 Prospect St. The event aims to give Norwood residents a safe, secure, and entirely complimentary way to dispose of sensitive documents.

The shredding event is open to the general public and you don’t need to be a customer of the bank to participate.

To ensure the highest level of security, all items will be shredded on-site between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM or until the shredding truck reaches maximum capacity. Since this event is strictly first-come, first-served until the truck is full, it’s highly recommended to arrive on the earlier side.

The event will be fully staffed by One Local Bank employees alongside professional representatives from Bay State Shredding, meaning your documents never leave authorized sight before being destroyed.

To keep the event running smoothly and safely for everyone, organizers have put together a few simple ground rules for attendees:

First, residents are limited to a maximum of two boxes of paper to be shredded. Next, the paperwork can not contain binder clips, plastic folders, or other non-paper items mixed in. Finally, visitors must remain in their vehicles. Bank and shredding team members will safely remove the boxes from the trunk or back seat.

So, protect your identity and take advantage of a great community resource. -RD
