NORWOOD – Get ready for high-flying dunks, hilarious comedy, and a healthy dose of hometown rivalry. The Harlem Wizards, the most interactive, fun, community basketball event in the world is coming to Norwood.

The Wizards are taking on the “Norwood Net Ninjas” in a highly anticipated community basketball event.

The game is set to take place at Norwood High School on Sunday, April 12th, 2025 at 3pm. This afternoon of “show” basketball isn’t just about the tricks; it serves as a major fundraiser for the Coakley Middle School PTO. In a boost for local schools, elementary families who purchase tickets will see $3 per ticket donated directly back to their specific school.

The “Norwood Net Ninjas” roster will feature teachers and staff from Coakley Middle School and various town elementary schools.

“We are so excited to host the Wizards again this year,” said Katie Neal-Rizzo, a CMS event committee member. “They are superb showmen who deliver fantastic all-ages entertainment… We can’t wait to cheer on our teachers in what will be an unforgettable game”.

The Wizards are known for their “interactive” brand of basketball, ensuring that local students are more than just spectators including pre-game warmups where any child or teen wearing a Wizards jersey is invited onto the court to warm up with the pros. Also, during the game, audience members will be pulled from the stands throughout the night to participate in various contests and acts. The night concludes with a signature dance celebration where every student in attendance is invited onto the court to move to the beat with the players.

Founded in 1962 by visionary promoter Howie Davis, the Harlem Wizards have a storied history of blending elite athleticism with charitable giving. Over the decades, the organization has played more than 15,000 games and raised over $25 million for schools and charities across the globe.

Today, the team remains a family operation run by Davis’s son, Todd, and grandson, Rick. While the roster features world-class talent—including former Globetrotters and “The Dunk King” reality stars—the mission remains to provide family-friendly entertainment for great causes.
