NORWOOD, MA – The Town of Norwood has been awarded $267,321 for a new sidewalk project in the Cleveland School area. Part of a $7 million grant which is part of the FY26 Complete Streets Funding Program, the Complete Streets program is designed to help municipalities create safer, more accessible travel for all residents, regardless of age, ability, or mode of transportation.

Norwood is one of 16 communities across the state who received this specific funding and will provide for both technical assistance and construction funding to help communities implement these vital improvements.

The grant awarded to Norwood will fund the construction of a new sidewalk on the northern side of the George F. Willett Parkway, extending to the Cleveland School. The project will include the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps with detectable warning panels, ensuring safer access for students, staff, and visitors to the school.

This initiative is a significant step toward improving pedestrian safety and accessibility in Norwood, particularly for those traveling to and from the Cleveland School. The new sidewalk and ADA-compliant features will make it easier for people of all abilities to navigate the area, promoting a more inclusive and secure environment for the entire community. -RD
