NORWOOD – A routine maintenance visit at a local car dealership has sparked a domestic stalking investigation after a BMW technician discovered a tracking device attached to a customer’s vehicle.
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 12:15 PM, Norwood Police met with a female resident who reported that technicians at the BMW Gallery, located at 918 Boston Providence Highway, had made a highly disturbing discovery while servicing her vehicle.
According to the police report, a dealership technician found a GPS tracking device magnetically attached inside the vehicle’s front driver-side wheel well.
The victim presented Officer Spicuzza with the physical tracking device later identified as a “Tracki” brand GPS unit, along with photographs and video captured by the technician showing exactly where it had been hidden.
The victim told police she believes the tracker was placed there by her ex-boyfriend who she currently has an active restraining order against. The victim told Officer Spicuzza that she recently filed a separate report with the Boston Police Department after the ex allegedly showed up at her workplace in Boston in violation of the order.
This is reportedly not the first time she has found a surveillance device on her car. The victim told authorities she discovered an identical “Tracki” device in March 2025. When she confronted her ex-boyfriend at the time, he reportedly admitted to placing it there, though the admission was verbal and not documented.
When Officer Spicuzza examined the recovered Tracki device, she noted that the serial number was missing. According to the manufacturer’s documentation, a unique ID sticker is typically located underneath the unit’s magnet, which police can use to trace the registration and billing details back to a purchaser.
However, when Officer Spicuzza attempted to access the compartment to retrieve the ID sticker, she found the screw was stripped and appeared heavily tampered with—rendering the sticker inaccessible.
The victim chose to keep custody of the device, noting that her attorney had requested she secure it for legal proceedings. She stated she plans to use the incident to seek an additional restraining order.
Norwood Police have filed a report 26NWD-593-OF and the investigation is ongoing. -RD
