NORWOOD – A local man faces criminal charges after an alleged argument at the Norwood Town Common gazebo turned physical, leaving a victim injured and bleeding from the head.
At approximately 2:28 p.m. on July 21, Norwood Police dispatch received a 911 call reporting an altercation at the gazebo. According to computer-aided dispatch (CAD) logs and police radio communications, an argument between two individuals escalated when one party allegedly pushed the other to the ground.
Callers told police that no weapons were involved in the dispute, but the victim allegedly suffered a head injury during the fall. The victim was subsequently treated on scene for his injuries. Police have not released the status of the victims injuries.
Shortly after units arrived in the area, an officer spotted an individual matching the caller’s description of the suspect walking near the intersection of Washington Street and Day Street. According to radio transmissions, the suspect was allegedly observed by the officer removing or changing a navy blue shirt while crossing Washington Street.
A 62 year old Hill Street resident was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on an Elderly or Disabled Person. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. -RD
