NORWOOD – A morning coffee run turned chaotic on Walpole Street Tuesday after an argument over a food order escalated into a mess of flying food and loose change.
Norwood Police dispatched units to the Mary Lou’s Coffee located at 491 Walpole St shortly after 10:45 a.m. following a 911 call from a store employee.
According to police radio transmissions, the caller reported that a customer allegedly threw a tip jar and hurled food across the counter before walking out.
Dispatchers described the suspect as a white female with blonde hair who was accompanied by a child. As officers responded to the scene, the 911 operator stated the confrontation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a food allergy.
Units responding to the area were advised that the woman and child were still in the parking lot as police arrived on scene.
It remains unclear if any store employees were injured during the incident, or if the woman is facing formal charges. Norwood Police have not released the identity of those involved. -RD
