NORWOOD – Cory Civitarese, 35, was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly crashed into a telephone pole on Mylod St according to court filings. Police say Civitarese “had an extremely strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his mouth and body during our entire interaction” according to a police report submitted to Dedham District Court.

Police say they received a 911 call at approximately 9:30pm on September 17, 2025 reporting a traffic crash at 65 Mylod St. Norwood Police found the Ford Focus “in the middle of the street” and “emitting smoke”. Neighbors said “the male party” was the only person in the vehicle and appeared “impaired” according to the police call log. During their initial contact, Civitarese explained to officers he had a “couple drinks” according to the police report.

Following an investigation that included several field sobriety tests, Civitarese was placed under arrest for OUI-Liquor (second offense), negligent operation and a marked lanes violation. During their investigation, Norwood Police learned Civitarese allegedly had a previous “DUI” charge from an East Providence, Rhode Island incident in 2015.

Civitarese was arraigned in Dedham District Court on September 18th and is due back in court on October 16th. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. -RD
