Norwood residents are invited to celebrate Small Business Saturday by showing some love to our local shops.
Small Business Saturday is scheduled for this Saturday, November 29th, and is the perfect opportunity to invest in the unique character and vitality of Norwood.
This isn’t just a day to find a local deal, it’s a day to recognize the hard work of our local entrepreneurs. From Norwood Center, to the South Norwood flats to the NCC-Winsmith Mill Market, the independent retailers here in town are the very fabric of our community. Every dollar spent with a Norwood small business circulates locally, supporting our neighbors, schools, and essential town services.
While you may not find the big box doorbusters here, you’ll discover something much better: personalized service, one-of-a-kind gifts, and the friendly faces of business owners who live and work right here. Friends of Norwood Center list all the local small businesses on their website, and is a great place to start (norwoodcenter.org).
“When you shop small, you’re not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home,” says a local business owner who asked to remain anonymous. “You’re helping a neighbor pay their mortgage, a parent put their child through college, and a local entrepreneur realize a dream. It’s an investment in the Norwood economy itself.”
This year, supporting local stores has never been more critical. Small businesses in Norwood rely heavily on the holiday shopping season to sustain them through the rest of the year.
Shoppers and small businesses are also reminded to use social media during the day. Take a photo of your local shopping experience and share it on social media with the hashtag #ShopSmallNorwood to encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.
So, power down the computer and head to the businesses that truly make Norwood feel like home. Inside Norwood encourages everyone to live local and shop small! -RD
