WALPOLE/NORWOOD – A complaint about reckless driving at the Walpole Mall turned into a police search after a group of individuals allegedly threatened to shoot a local plow driver.

According to the Walpole Police report, during the January 25th snow storm, Officer Bissanti responded to the Walpole Mall at 90 Providence Highway following a report of a disturbance. Two plow drivers were clearing the lot when they encountered an older model blue Ford Ranger performing “donuts” and obstructing their work.

The situation turned tense when one driver attempted to approach the vehicle to tell the group to leave. The Ranger reportedly fled to the rear of the building where three men, described as Hispanic males in their mid-to-late 20s, exited the truck.

During a verbal altercation one of the individuals allegedly said “I will shoot you.” The men eventually returned to the Ranger and fled the scene, heading northbound on Route 1 into Norwood. The victim says he never saw a gun.

Walpole Dispatch notified the Norwood Police Department when a second sighting of a blue Ford Ranger was reported at the Dunkin’ on Union Street in Norwood.

Norwood officers conducted a sweep of surrounding parking lots and business plazas, but the vehicle was “gone on arrival.”

Residents or business owners who may have information or surveillance footage, or recognize the description of the vehicle, are encouraged to contact the Walpole or Norwood Police Departments. -RD
