NORWOOD – Neighborhood on high alert following reports of a confrontation involving a subject with a weapon at the Savage Center on Prospect Street.
According to the Norwood Police Department call log, dispatchers received a 911 call on February 7th from a caller who reported that a male suspect had pulled a knife on them before fleeing toward the gym. The victim met with police along the exterior basketball court doors.
The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a du-rag and saggy pants. He was last seen carrying a distinctive red Nike backpack.
Witnesses at the scene said that after the initial confrontation, the subject entered the Savage Center and fled toward the gymnasium area. Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the call to take the report.
Norwood Police reported that the incident involved a juvenile and as a result would not release their report. Inside Norwood contacted Chief Padden who said he did not have a comment about this case. -RD
