NORWOOD – A man was found asleep behind the wheel of a white work van in the drive-thru at McDonald’s early Sunday morning, according to the Norwood Police Department call log.
Police received a 911 call at 1:53 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, reporting a party sleeping inside a white work van positioned in the left ordering lane near the menu boards of the restaurant’s Everett Street drive-thru.
Officers responded to the scene and made contact with the male driver whose identity was not released. According to the report, the man told police he had fallen asleep after a long day at work and was feeling fatigued.
As a precaution, officers administered field sobriety tests to test whether he was incapacitated by alcohol. Police reported that the driver successfully completed the exercises and showed no signs of impairment.
After confirming the man was not under the influence and was able to safely continue on his way, officers cleared the scene without further incident. No charges were filed. -RD
