NORWOOD – A popular local gathering spot was forced to cut its business hours short this weekend after an act of “intentional vandalism” left a restroom in unusable condition and management searching for answers.
Limey’s Pub, located at 659 Washington St, took to social media today to address the incident, expressing deep disappointment over the property damage and the blatant disrespect shown to their employees.
According to management, the incident occurred in the men’s restroom, where the destruction went far beyond a typical weekend mess.
“The paper towel dispenser was emptied and the paper towels were shoved in the urinal and toilet,” Limey’s Pub management told Inside Norwood. “The soap dispenser was ripped off the wall and also put in the toilet. One or more of the vandals peed on the walls and floor of the bathroom.”
The severity of the mess created a safety hazard, forcing the pub to close its doors ahead of schedule.
“Our staff spent part of their evening cleaning up a mess that no one should have to deal with, and we were forced to close early to protect the health and safety of our guests,” the business shared in an online statement.
While the pub has some leads on who might be responsible for the destruction, leadership is holding back on making public allegations until they have definitive proof.
“We have an idea of who it was,” management told Inside Norwood. “However, we would hate to accuse someone without being 100% sure. [It’s] very frustrating… We’re hoping they will do the right thing and come forward.”
In their public post, the pub’s leadership emphasized that the venue is not just a place for entertainment, but a workplace for local residents who deserve a safe, respectful environment.
“At Limey’s, we work hard every day to provide a clean, welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors,” the statement read. “Seeing our property intentionally damaged is disappointing, but even more disappointing is the disrespect shown to the employees who had to clean it up. Please remember that our pub is someone’s workplace and a place our community comes to enjoy. Treat it, and the people who work here with respect.”
Management extended its gratitude to the staff members who handled the biological mess with professionalism, as well as the “many guests who continue to treat Limey’s like home.”
