NORWOOD – Local authorities are investigating after a landscaper uncovered a firearm on Norwood Park South on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Norwood Police, a 911 call came in around 3:28 p.m. on July 29, 2026 reporting the discovery. The caller stated he was working along the wood line near a property on Norwood Park South when he spotted the weapon.
Norwood Police Chief Christopher Padden confirmed the discovery, but declined to elaborate on the details while officers process the finding.
“Yes that is correct,” Chief Padden told Inside Norwood. “But I don’t want to make any further comments until we know more.”
Details regarding the type of gun, its condition, or how long it may have been left at the location have not yet been released. Police have not indicated whether the weapon is connected to any ongoing cases, however Chief Padden says this is an open and active investigation.
